The other day we were feeling fit and spontaneous, so we visited the SkyView Tower at Smithfield, Dublin. The place used to be a massive chimney of the old Jameson distillery in Smithfield, and it’s still one of the tallest structures in Dublin.
I don’t think I made the best use of it in terms of pictures, but it looks great up there if you visit during late evenings with the golden hour when the sunlight warms up the rooftops in the neighborhood. Go on a weekday if you want to skip the crowds.
This was actually a side quest that day. We were at Smithfield to watch a movie and have lunch. It’s a nice area with plenty of restaurants and Instagram friendly walls and benches. 😉
Dublin is a flat city, if you go on a day with a clear sky, you’ll get a clean view across the city and all its top attractions like the old Jameson whiskey distillery, Aviva stadium, Christ Church Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Guiness Factory and the beautiful Dublin (/Wicklow) mountains range.
It’s a proper climb of steep spiraling stairs, but the spectacular view you get is worth it!
