You can take the bus or the train to get to Belfast from Dublin. It costs more or less the same, takes the same amount of time, same scenic ride, but the train’s comfort is something else. Take the train from Dublin Connolly station, 5 stops, less than 2.5 hours, comfy reserved seats when you book online, table if you’re lucky, catering foods, drinks, top stuff…
Pro tip: The Enterprise service that runs between Belfast – Dublin is the only regular train in Ireland where you can pop a beer.
I loved my time at the Botanical gardens and Ulster museum. Public transport there is pretty decent, taxis are easily available and so many interesting things you can cover within a couple of hours. If you feel like getting a Black cab ride or go other places in Northern Ireland other than Belfast, like Giants Causeway, Derry, or checkout Game of Thrones shooting spots, there’s plenty of transport from city. Or if you want to stay around, there’s murals in the city, the Peace wall, Titanic experience, Crumlin road gaol, and all the good stuff.
